Pakistan Elected to Lead Key Nuclear Safety Review Meeting

Islamabad: In a significant development at the international level, Pakistan has been chosen to preside over the Tenth Review Meeting of the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS). Mr. Faizan Mansoor, Chairman of the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), has been unanimously elected as the President for this crucial meeting. Additionally, Pakistan secured the roles of Vice Chairperson and Rapporteur at the Country Group level during the same election process.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the election of Mr. Mansoor and Pakistan’s elevated roles at the CNS reflect the high level of trust and recognition by the Contracting Parties of CNS and the broader international community. This acknowledgment underscores Pakistan’s expertise and its exemplary track record in the domain of nuclear safety.

Pakistan will maintain the presidency role until the completion of the process of the Tenth Review Meeting of the Convention on Nuclear Safety, which is scheduled to conclude in April 2026. This leadership position highlights Pakistan’s prominent role in global nuclear safety discussions and its commitment to maintaining high standards in nuclear operations.
