Pakistan Elected Chair of OPCW Conference of States Parties

Islamabad, The 28th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention has ended with Pakistan assuming the Chair. Additionally, Pakistan was re-elected to the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) for the term 2024-26.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Suljuk Mustansar Tarar, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OPCW, chaired this session, marking a first for Pakistan in leading the Conference and other CWC-related organs.

As per the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan expressed gratitude to all states parties of the Chemical Weapons Convention for their support and trust. The country vows to continue its role as a bridge builder in the multilateral domain and maintain its commitment to the Chemical Weapons Convention.

This leadership position demonstrates Pakistan’s strong credentials in the multilateral arms control and disarmament arena.
