Islamabad: In an ongoing effort to provide humanitarian support to conflict-affected regions, Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) dispatched its 21st relief consignment to Syria, as directed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The shipment, weighing approximately 17 tons, included essential supplies such as blankets, food, and medicines. It departed from Chaklala, Rawalpindi, via a chartered aircraft 777 to Damascus.
According to Press Information Department, the aid consignment was organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force. To date, NDMA has sent a total of 1,756 tons of relief items to Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, with 1,273 tons to Gaza, 372 tons to Lebanon, and 111 tons to Syria. The send-off ceremony in Rawalpindi was attended by Mr. Ibrar Malik, MNA, and senior officials from NDMA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Pakistan Air Force. The chief guest at the ceremony underscored the critical need for continued relief efforts amidst ongoing conflicts in these regions and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting affected populations. Additionally, a special account named the “Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gaza and Lebanon” has been established to facilitate public donations for the humanitarian cause.
