Pakistan Diplomacy Engaged in Multifaceted International Relations

Islamabad, Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements were highlighted in the recent Weekly Media Briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The briefing covered various international interactions, emphasizing Pakistan’s active role in global affairs.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Shehryar Akbar represented Pakistan at the Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting in Ghana, addressing challenges in UN peacekeeping and emphasizing the safety of peacekeepers. Pakistan presented 19 pledges at the conference, reflecting its commitment to UN peacekeeping efforts. These pledges included contributions to a Strategic Communications Unit, infantry battalion, increased women peacekeepers, helicopter units, and renewable energy resources.

In bilateral relations, Ambassador Akbar met with Ghana’s Vice President and Foreign Minister, focusing on mutual engagement in science, technology, and digitization, and encouraging joint ventures. He also held meetings with international figures, including the Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, the UK Minister of States for Armed Forces, and the UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The briefing also mentioned the 6th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Mexico, led by Ambassador Mariam Aftab. The talks covered various aspects of bilateral relations, with a focus on strengthening ties in trade, agriculture, investment, science and technology, and cultural exchanges.

Highlighting ongoing dialogues with the US, the briefing touched on the visits of several senior US officials. These visits were part of the continuous dialogue on various issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.

Pakistan also welcomed the UN Secretary-General’s invocation of Article 99 of the UN Charter concerning the situation in Gaza, condemning Israel’s use of force and calling for the international community’s intervention to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.

Regarding domestic concerns, the Ministry addressed the recent Indian Parliament bills on Jammu and Kashmir, rejecting them as a farce to perpetuate India’s occupation and denying the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. The briefing reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kashmiris in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions.

The Ministry’s spokesperson responded to various media questions, covering topics from Pakistan’s stance on the Afghan situation and the TTP, to the country’s position on Israel’s actions in Gaza and its relationship with the United States.
