Baku: Pakistan has deployed a contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the upcoming defense exhibition ADEX-2024. The deployment features the JF-17 Thunder Block-III, a prominent fighter jet dubbed the Pride of Pakistan, which will be showcased in both aerial demonstrations and static displays.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the decision to send the PAF contingent followed a recent visit to Pakistan by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which he requested Pakistan’s participation in the exhibition. This move is seen as a step to strengthen military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
The JF-17 Thunder Block-III performed a series of maneuvers including Air to Air Refueling with the PAF’s Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft. This operation, completed in a single trip to Baku, demonstrated the long-range capability of the Pakistani fighter jet.
During his visit to the display, President Aliyev examined the JF-17 Thunder Block-III and later observed a dynamic aerial demonstration. The performance highlighted the agility and maneuverability of the aircraft, piloted by skilled members of the PAF.
President Aliyev expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s support, noting that it would significantly enhance the military relations between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of such collaborations in fostering strong bilateral ties.
