Pakistan Denounces Erosion of International Law at UN, Criticizes Israel’s Actions in Gaza

Islamabad: In a forceful statement at the United Nations, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Munir Akram, accused Israel of undermining the rule of law at the international level through its actions in Gaza, which he characterized as a genocidal war.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Akram’s comments came during his address to the Sixth Committee meeting of the UN General Assembly. He underscored the necessity of adhering to existing international laws and highlighted the irony of countries that erode these laws while still advocating for their selective application. “It is ironic that the countries which are complicit in the erosion of international law have the audacity to advocate for adherence to the rule of law, which fits their description and interpretation,” Akram stated.

The remarks reflect Pakistan’s continued stance on the importance of international legal norms and its criticism of policies and actions that it views as contravening these standards.
