Pakistan Denounces Bombing of Gaza Hospital as Violation of International Law

Islamabad: Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation following the bombing of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, attributing the attack to Israeli forces. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan described the incident as a violation of international humanitarian law, emphasizing that it is part of a broader pattern of targeting medical facilities in the region.

The attack occurred on Palm Sunday, a significant day for Christians, which Khan noted highlights a disregard for religious sanctity and civilian lives. He pointed out that Israel’s continuous assaults have severely impacted Gaza’s healthcare system, leaving critically ill patients without necessary medical care. This, coupled with restrictions on humanitarian aid, suggests an intentional strategy to exacerbate suffering and prolong the conflict, according to the spokesperson.

Khan called for the international community to take decisive steps to hold Israel accountable and ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians from further violence. He reiterated Pakistan’s demand for an immediate cessation of hostilities by Israeli forces.

Additionally, the spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution, advocating for an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-June 1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital.
