New York: Pakistan has called for accountability in response to attacks on United Nations peacekeepers, emphasizing the need for justice to prevent future incidents.
According to Radio Pakistan, during a United Nations Security Council briefing on the situation in Abyei, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, condemned a drone attack on the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei’s logistics base in Kadugli last December. The attack resulted in the deaths of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers.
Ambassador Jadoon stressed the importance of holding perpetrators accountable, asserting that this is essential to deter future attacks. He highlighted that financial considerations should not compromise the protection, safety, and security of peacekeepers, nor should they impede accountability for crimes against them.
