Yangon: Pakistan has delivered its first aid consignment, weighing thirty-five tons, to Myanmar to assist those affected by the recent devastating earthquake. The handover took place at Yangon International Airport, where the Ambassador of Pakistan to Myanmar, Imran Haider, along with diplomats from the Pakistan Embassy, presented the relief supplies to the Chief Minister of the Yangon Region and the Director General of Training from Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Government of Pakistan, along with the National Disaster Management Authority, underscored their continued commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Myanmar in the aftermath of the natural disaster. The consignment marks a significant step in international relief efforts to support the thousands affected.

In a related development, Myanmar’s military has announced a temporary ceasefire to facilitate relief and reconstruction activities. The ruling junta’s State Administration Council stated that the ceasefire will be effective until the 22nd of this month, allowing for expedited aid operations in the region.

The earthquake has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with the death toll exceeding 2,800, highlighting the urgent need for international assistance and cooperation in relief efforts.
