Dhaka: A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka to commemorate Pakistan National Day, with High Commissioner Imran Haider presiding over the event. The ceremony was attended by members of the Pakistani community, students, civil society representatives, and local media.
According to Press Information Department, the occasion celebrated the historic March 23, 1940, Pakistan Resolution, a pivotal moment under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read, highlighting the importance of the day and Pakistan’s dedication to progress and unity. The messages reiterated Pakistan’s stance on global peace and the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, along with support for the people of Palestine. The significance of operation Ghazab-lill-Haq was also noted.
High Commissioner Haider congratulated the Pakistani diaspora in Bangladesh, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the founding fathers. He emphasized the importance of building a strong and prosperous Pakistan, in line with Quaid-e-Azam’s vision. A pictorial exhibition honoring Quaid-e-Azam’s leadership was part of the ceremony, which concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity and progress.
