NEW DELHI : The Pakistan Day was marked with patriotic zeal and fervor at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
According to Press Information Department, the celebration featured a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Mr. Saad Ahmad Warraich, Chargé d’ Affaires of Pakistan to India, at the Chancery Lawns. The event was attended by officers, staff of the High Commission, and their families. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read during the ceremony.
In his address, Mr. Warraich highlighted the significance of the Lahore Resolution adopted on March 23, 1940, which he described as a pivotal moment for the Muslims of the subcontinent in their quest for a separate homeland, culminating in the establishment of Pakistan. He honored the sacrifices of the freedom movement’s martyrs, emphasizing their role as an inspiration for maintaining freedom and striving for national progress.
Mr. Warraich further remarked on the importance of strength in preserving freedom and acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s armed forces in national defense. He stated that Pakistan’s deterrence contributes to regional stability and peace. He also stressed that peaceful relations with India require equality, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of disputes, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of a special commemorative cake.
