Pakistan Day Celebrated at High Commission in Ottawa

Ottawa: Pakistan Day was marked at the High Commission of Pakistan in Ottawa with a ceremony that underscored the historic significance of the Lahore Resolution adopted on March 23, 1940. The event featured a flag-raising ceremony led by High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem, with attendees from the Pakistani community, High Commission staff, students, and friends of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, special messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar were read to the assembled guests. During his address, High Commissioner Saleem highlighted the vision of Pakistan’s founding fathers and acknowledged their sacrifices. He also spoke on the positive developments in Pakistan-Canada relations, particularly in trade, investment, and education, and praised the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada. The event concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity and progress.
