Islamabad, In a significant crackdown on smuggling, Pakistan Customs has seized contraband cigarettes worth Rs. 156 million. The operation, conducted between October 30 and November 5, 2023, resulted in the confiscation of over 8 million sticks of foreign-origin cigarettes.
According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), special teams were constituted to launch anti-smuggling operations targeting the illicit cigarette trade. The recent drive is part of a broader effort to curb the smuggling of foreign-origin cigarettes into Pakistan. The FBR has also issued instructions to anti-smuggling formations, including mobile squads at various Collectorates and airports, to remain vigilant against the illegal movement of cigarettes within the country. The FBR reaffirms its commitment to combating smuggling with dedication and prudence.
