NEW YORK: Pakistan has publicly criticized India for what it describes as a dire record of violations against children in the region of Jammu and Kashmir, administered by India.
During a session at the United Nations Security Council, Rabia Ijaz, the Second Secretary at the Pakistan Mission, exercised her right of reply in response to statements made by an Indian delegate. Ijaz highlighted what she termed the “tragedy” of Kashmiri children, who she said are growing up under conditions of terror, trauma, and repression.
Ijaz asserted that these experiences are a well-known reality that India cannot obscure with what she described as false narratives. The statement underscores ongoing tensions between the two nations over the region.
The issue of Jammu and Kashmir remains a point of significant contention between Pakistan and India, with both nations claiming the territory in full but controlling parts of it. This latest exchange at the UN highlights the enduring and complex nature of the conflict, particularly concerning the welfare of children in the region.
