Pakistan Criticizes Decision to Extend JKLF Ban, Expresses Support for Kashmiris

Islamabad: Pakistan has voiced its disapproval following the decision by an Indian tribunal to uphold the continuation of a five-year ban on the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), which was enacted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act by the Indian home ministry.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, in her weekly press briefing, called on Indian authorities to release Muhammad Yasin Malik, the incarcerated chairman of JKLF, and to rescind the ban on his organization and other political groups. Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s steadfast moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people amidst ongoing tensions in the region.

In addition to addressing the JKLF ban, Baloch highlighted recent violent incidents in Gaza, condemning the Israeli airstrikes that targeted locations including the Khalifa Bin Zayed School in Northern Gaza, a mosque in Central Gaza, and a refugee camp, which resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children. She labeled these actions as war crimes by Israeli forces.

Baloch further called for international accountability for Israel, marking the upcoming anniversary on October 7 of what she described as a year of severe aggression against Palestinians, with approximately 42,000 casualties, predominantly women and children. She urged the UN Security Council to implement a permanent ceasefire and to hold Israel responsible for its actions.
