Pakistan Continues Humanitarian Aid to Gaza and Lebanon with Latest NDMA Consignments

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan has escalated its humanitarian efforts to the war-affected regions of Gaza and Lebanon under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Today, the NDMA dispatched its 15th and 16th consignments, each containing 100 tons of winterized tents and blankets, aimed at aiding those in distress in both regions.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the send-off ceremony at Islamabad International Airport was attended by various Members of Parliament, the Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan, Zuhair M. H. Darzaid, the Lebanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Ghassan Khatib, and representatives from the NDMA, the Foreign Office, and the Armed Forces. This event not only marked the continuation of Pakistan’s commitment to providing relief but also reaffirmed the country’s dedication to supporting international peace and humanitarian efforts.

During the ceremony, both ambassadors expressed their gratitude towards the Government of Pakistan for its steadfast and continued support. The Palestinian Ambassador praised the efforts as a symbol of hope and solidarity with Gaza’s quest for peace and justice, while the Lebanese Ambassador emphasized the critical role of Pakistani aid in alleviating the hardships faced by war-impacted communities in Lebanon.

To date, Pakistan has sent a total of 1,598 tons of relief items to both Gaza and Lebanon, with this shipment being the third directed specifically at Lebanon. These efforts are part of a broader initiative by the Pakistani government, which also includes the establishment of the ‘Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gaza and Lebanon.’ This fund is designed to gather donations from the public to further assist with the ongoing crises in these areas.
