Pakistan Condemns Israeli Strikes on Iran, Citing UN Charter Rights

Islamabad: Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of what it describes as unwarranted and illegitimate military actions by Israel against Iran. At a media briefing held in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan expressed Pakistan’s position, asserting that the Israeli military operations infringe upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran, violating the United Nations Charter and international law.

Khan emphasized that under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran possesses the right to self-defense. He reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Iran, condemning the actions as a threat to regional peace and stability. The spokesperson called on the international community and the United Nations to uphold international law and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

In the same briefing, Khan addressed the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, criticizing the continued restrictions imposed by Indian authorities. He noted that during Eid-al-Adha, residents were barred from gathering at key religious sites in Srinagar, and prominent Kashmiri leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest.

Khan described these measures as violations of fundamental rights, including the freedom to practice religion and assemble peacefully. He urged Indian authorities to respect the rights of the Kashmiri people and to honor their right to self-determination as supported by UN Security Council resolutions.
