Islamabad: The National Security Committee of Pakistan, chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, convened to address recent military actions by India. The session began with prayers for the civilians killed in the attacks and extended condolences to their families, also wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. The committee focused on the serious repercussions following India’s missile, air, and drone strikes on Pakistan’s territory.

In the coordinated assault on the night of May 6 and 7, Indian forces targeted multiple locations including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. These strikes, conducted under the pretext of targeting alleged terrorist camps, resulted in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage, including mosques and the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project. The attacks endangered commercial flights from Gulf countries, escalating regional tensions.

The NSC condemned these acts as violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty and international law, labeling them as crimes against humanity. Pakistan refutes India’s allegations of terrorist camps, having invited international media to verify the claims. The NSC criticized India for disregarding Pakistan’s previous offer for a neutral investigation into the allegations.

In response, Pakistan’s Armed Forces defended their territory, downing five Indian aircraft and drones. The NSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s right to self-defense per the UN Charter, authorizing military actions to protect its sovereignty and people.

The Pakistani nation has expressed support for its military’s response and remains united against further aggression. The NSC urged the global community to hold India accountable for its actions, which they view as violations of international norms.
