Islamabad: Pakistan’s government has issued a strong condemnation of recent remarks made by the Indian Defence Minister concerning the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled the statements as highly provocative and irresponsible, reflecting the ongoing tensions between the two neighboring countries over the contested territory.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Tahir Andarabi stated that the Indian Defence Minister’s comments misrepresent the facts surrounding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which remains on the United Nations Security Council’s agenda. Andarabi emphasized that these remarks indicate a deliberate strategy by the Indian government to undermine regional and international peace and security.
The Pakistani spokesperson accused India of using such statements to deflect attention from its prolonged occupation of what Pakistan refers to as Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as well as its alleged support for terrorism within the region and its internal instability. Pakistan has called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to address what it describes as India’s continued rogue behavior and to hold India accountable for not adhering to Security Council resolutions that support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
