Pakistan Condemns Drone Attack on UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Plant

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned a recent drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the United Arab Emirates. According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi expressed Pakistan’s full solidarity with the government and people of the UAE in a statement released Friday.

Andrabi asserted that targeting nuclear facilities is a grave violation of international law, including international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter. He highlighted the importance of upholding the fundamental principles of nuclear safety and security as outlined by the International Atomic Energy Agency’s statutes and resolutions.

The spokesperson stressed that nuclear installations must not be targeted under any circumstances, warning that such actions could lead to catastrophic and irreversible effects on human life, the environment, and both regional and global peace and security. Andrabi called for the inviolability of civilian nuclear infrastructure to be respected as an established international norm.

Pakistan called on all involved parties to exercise maximum restraint and fulfill their obligations under international law to avoid actions that could escalate tensions beyond the region. Andrabi emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy, aligned with the principles of the United Nations Charter, remain the only viable path toward lasting peace and stability.
