Pakistan Complies Fully with International Maritime Organization Regulations, Minister States


Islamabad: Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh affirmed Pakistan’s full compliance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations during his opening remarks at the International Maritime Business and Finance Conference.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sheikh highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographical position with an extensive coastline over 11,000 kilometers, underscoring its significance in maritime affairs. He discussed the country’s efforts to minimize its global environmental footprint through the adoption of green technologies and climate change measures across all institutions.



Sheikh elaborated on initiatives to protect biodiversity and oceans, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 2014, and emphasized the readiness of Pakistan’s maritime professionals to collaborate internationally, citing their expertise as meeting international standards. Additionally, he outlined Pakistan’s willingness to engage with global entities to enhance capacities in ship making, ship recycling, and the blue economy.



The minister expressed gratitude towards the International Maritime Organization, particularly China and Norway, for their technical support to Pakistan in these endeavors.
