Pakistan Commits to Fostering Global Peace and Stability at UN Ceremony

New York, During a flag hoisting ceremony commemorating Pakistan Day at the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, reiterated the nation’s commitment to contributing to a peaceful and stable international order. This pledge aligns with the principles and aspirations of Pakistan’s founding fathers, emphasizing a legacy of democratic struggle and dedication to universal principles of human rights.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Akram highlighted the historical context of Pakistan’s engagement with the UN, noting its membership initiation just a month post-independence and its sustained active participation in promoting global peace, cooperation, and friendship in alignment with UN Charter values. The envoy specifically underscored Pakistan’s advocacy for the right to self-determination, referencing the situations in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine as areas of concern.

The event, a collaborative effort by Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN and its Consulate General in New York, served as a platform to honor the visionaries behind Pakistan’s creation and to reaffirm its dedication to key UN principles, including non-aggression, state sovereignty respect, non-interference, and international collaboration.
