Pakistan Commits to Accelerating SDG Efforts at UN Forum

Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during a statement made at the General Debate of the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, acknowledged progress in implementing the SDGs while highlighting the substantial challenges that lie ahead. He emphasized that developing countries like Pakistan face significant hurdles in meeting the SDGs by the 2030 deadline, pointing to a substantial financing gap and the need for enhanced fiscal support from the international community.

Ambassador Jadoon called for increased global financial support, noting that the SDG financing gap exceeds four trillion dollars, with developing countries needing between 215 to 387 billion dollars annually for adaptation through 2030.
