Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed gratitude to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for his endorsement of the recent ceasefire agreement reached between Pakistan and India.
In a statement released by the Foreign Office, Pakistan agreed with the Secretary-General’s view that the ceasefire is a significant step toward fostering a peaceful and stable environment in South Asia.
The statement emphasized that a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue, in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is crucial for achieving lasting peace in the region.
Pakistan highlighted the critical role of the United Nations in promoting peace and stability. The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to engaging in constructive and result-oriented dialogue, guided by the UN Charter and international law, to ensure peace, security, and development for the people of South Asia.
