Pakistan Commemorates Kashmiri Women Enduring Hardships in IIOJK

Islamabad, The Foreign Office of Pakistan, through its spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, has declared that as the global community observes International Women’s Day, special recognition will be given to the resilient women of Kashmir who have suffered due to Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the spokesperson during her weekly briefing in Islamabad, highlighted the plight of Kashmiri women in IIOJK, who have been subjected to severe hardships. These women, many of whom have been widowed or left without fathers due to fabricated encounters by Indian forces, are forced into becoming the primary providers for their families amidst profound grief.

Baloch emphasized the additional societal challenges faced by women leading households in IIOJK, including the difficulty in securing respectable employment. She also pointed out the continued incarceration of women activists and Hurriyat leaders, including Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, and Fehmeeda Sofi, in various jails across IIOJK and India, underscoring the suppression of their freedoms and rights, notably the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.

The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to providing political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people. The spokesperson affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to seeking a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, aligning with the United Nations Security Council resolutions, thereby ensuring the fundamental rights and freedoms of Kashmiri women are honored and protected.
