Pakistan Commemorates Defence and Martyrs Day in London with Prominent International Attendance

London: The High Commission for Pakistan in London observed Defence and Martyrs Day with a significant ceremony, bringing together Parliamentarians, Diplomats, and Defence Attaches from 51 different countries to honor the sacrifices made by Pakistani martyrs and acknowledge the steadfastness of its armed forces.

According to High Commission for Pakistan – United Kingdom, the event was marked by speeches that underscored the valor and sacrifices of the Pakistani armed forces and their contributions to international peacekeeping efforts. Dr. Mohammad Faisal, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK, emphasized the importance of the day, calling on Pakistanis to renew their commitment to their country. He paid tribute to the martyrs who he described as a source of strength that makes the nation more resilient.

Dr. Faisal also highlighted the professional role of the Pakistani armed forces in maintaining peace through their involvement in UN Peacekeeping missions and stressed the ongoing support for the people of Kashmir facing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The commitment to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty against any threats was strongly reiterated throughout the event.

Special guests, including families of martyrs, shared personal stories of loss and resilience, which underscored the theme of sacrifice and unity. Notable speakers such as Brigadier (Retd) Saeed Ismat and Ahmad Nawaz, a survivor of the Army Public School Peshawar attack, shared poignant narratives that highlighted the personal impact of conflict and the support provided by the nation and its military.

Commodore Muhammad Zeeshan Nabi, the Defence and Naval Adviser, spoke about the historical and ongoing sacrifices of the Pakistani armed forces since 1947, emphasizing the assured defense capabilities of Pakistan. The event also featured patriotic musical performances, and souvenirs were presented to the families of martyrs, symbolizing the nation’s gratitude and remembrance.

The ceremony not only reflected on past sacrifices but also aimed to strengthen the collective national spirit amidst current challenges, ensuring the audience that the armed forces are fully capable of protecting the country’s sovereignty in any form of warfare.
