Pakistan Commemorates 14th Anniversary of Giyari Sector Tragedy


Siachen: The 14th anniversary of the Giyari Sector tragedy is being observed today, marking a somber day in Pakistan’s history. In 2012, an avalanche struck the Siachen Front, burying the Battalion Headquarters of the Pakistan Army and resulting in the deaths of 129 soldiers.



According to Radio Pakistan, the incident was deemed so severe that even international rescue teams considered the mission impossible. Nevertheless, the Pakistan Army Corps of Engineers undertook the rescue operation, completing it through persistent efforts and determination. A memorial, Yadgar-e-Shuhada, was constructed at the Siachen Front to honor the martyrs’ sacrifices.



Today, the nation collectively remembers the soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, reflecting on their dedication and valor. The tragedy’s impact continues to resonate, underscoring the enduring respect and remembrance for those who perished at Giyari.
