Islamabad: Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, held a high-level meeting with his Chinese counterpart, marking a significant step forward in enhancing bilateral collaboration in the health sector. The meeting resulted in agreements to boost cooperation, particularly in the production of pharmaceutical ingredients and vaccines.
Minister Kamal emphasized Pakistan’s potential for local production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), vaccines, medical devices, and diagnostic equipment. He assured that the Government of Pakistan is committed to fully facilitating Chinese investment in these critical areas of the healthcare industry.
The discussion also covered collaboration in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with assurances of support for Chinese experts working in this field. Minister Kamal announced the establishment of a dedicated desk for Chinese companies at the National Institute of Health to streamline communication and support.
The Chinese Minister of Health expressed support for these initiatives and agreed to appoint a focal person to enhance coordination with Pakistan. He assured cooperation in addressing shortages of essential APIs and vaccines in Pakistan.
The meeting underscored a shared vision for innovation and investment in health cooperation, marking a new chapter in Pakistan-China relations focused on regional health security.
