Islamabad: The Sangam Club 2025 Gala in Islamabad marked a significant moment in the relationship between Pakistan and China, underscoring a new phase of strategic cooperation. The event, attended by key figures including Mr. Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, highlighted the theme “Advancing Iron-Clad Friendship, Sharing Modernization Opportunities, Jointly Building a Brighter Future.”
The gathering featured H.E. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister for Investment, as the Chief Guest, alongside Ambassador H.E. Jiang Zaidong, diplomats, and business leaders. In his address, Mr. Khan emphasized the implications of China’s 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which sets the stage for enhanced bilateral cooperation aligned with China’s forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan.
Mr. Khan pointed to this as an opportunity for both nations to expand their collaboration in areas such as trade and investment. He identified key focuses for strengthening the partnership, including industrial upgrading through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with an emphasis on Special Economic Zones (SEZs), agricultural collaboration through contract farming, and increased market access for Pakistani products.
He also highlighted the potential for embracing digital and green transitions by leveraging Pakistan’s youthful talent alongside China’s technological advancements. Moreover, he suggested learning from China’s poverty alleviation and governance models to bolster Pakistan’s social development efforts.
Mr. Khan reiterated that China’s modernization is an open invitation for partners like Pakistan to join in the journey towards shared prosperity. The gala concluded with an affirmation of the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, encapsulated by the Coordinator’s closing words: “Pakistan-China Dosti Zindabad!”
