Pakistan Celebrates 77th Independence Day in Ottawa with Diplomatic Flair


Ottawa: Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day was marked with a dignified flag hoisting ceremony at the Pakistan High Commission in Ottawa, with simultaneous celebrations at consulates in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.



According to Press Information Department, the event was led by Acting High Commissioner Mr. Faisal Kakar, who unfurled the national flag amid the playing of the national anthem. The ceremony attracted a substantial turnout from the Pakistani diaspora and Canadian nationals of Pakistani origin. During the event, special messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were delivered, emphasizing the historical significance and achievements of the nation despite challenges.



Mr. Kakar addressed the contributions of the Pakistani Canadian community and updated them on recent governmental measures aimed at supporting overseas Pakistanis. He called for enhanced unity and engagement from the diaspora in Pakistan’s socio-economic development and highlighted ongoing issues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for their right to self-determination.



The event also featured cultural expressions of unity, including a cake-cutting ceremony, and was part of a broader series of celebrations by the Pakistani community across Canada, reflecting deep ties between Canada and Pakistan.
