Pakistan cannot be isolated or ignored in the region

New Delhi, October 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan is an important country in the region and cannot be isolated or ignored, said Indian journalist Shekhar Gupta in his programme “Cut the Clutter.” Shekhar Gupta in his programme explained why Pakistan cannot be isolated or ignored in the region. He said the US ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, recently visited Kashmir and referred to it as ‘Azad Jammu and Kashmir.’

Similarly, he said that recently the German foreign minister in a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart said the UN could play a role in Kashmir and Pakistan’s Army Chief spent nearly a week in Washington where he met important officials which proved that Pakistan was an important country. Shekhar Gupta also said Pakistan is a populous and nuclear country and 5th strongest military in the world which shows its importance in the region and US and other world powers could not ignore it.

It is to be mentioned that last week, two key developments involving the United States and Germany put Pakistan’s longstanding efforts to highlight the issue of Kashmir internationally relatively at par with India’s attempts to prevent any third-party intervention in the dispute. US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock separately made statements that appear to endorse Pakistan’s position on Kashmir.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office rejected the unwarranted remarks by India’s external affairs ministry in the wake of a joint press conference by the Pakistani and German foreign ministers wherein they agreed that the United Nations must intensify efforts to ensure a just resolution to the Kashmir dispute. The news conference was held during foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s two-day visit to Germany on the invitation of his counterpart Annalena Baerbock.
