Islamabad: The Pakistan High Commission joined forces with the Canada-Pakistan Association and MP Yasir Naqvi to host a vibrant “Pakistan Independence Day Celebration” at Parliament Hill, Ottawa, showcasing the unity and spirit of the Pakistani community in Canada.
According to Press Information Department, the event held on August 16, 2024, witnessed a significant turnout of both Pakistani diaspora and Canadian nationals of Pakistani origin. Acting High Commissioner Mr. Faisal Kakar delivered a speech praising the contributions of the Pakistani community in Canada to the strengthening of bilateral relations. He also spoke about the historical context of Pakistan’s independence, led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and highlighted the ongoing issues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, advocating for the rights of the Kashmiri people.
The event not only celebrated the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan but also emphasized the deep-rooted connections and shared values between the people of Pakistan and Canada. The celebration served as a platform to express the collective aspirations and ongoing commitment of the Pakistani community towards fostering greater understanding and cooperation on the international stage.
