Islamabad, July 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has called on the UN Security Council to effectively address the lingering Palestinian problem as the first and most urgent priority to bring peace and stability in Middle East. Taking part in the debate on situation in Middle East, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the world body Munir Akram said the festering wound of Israeli occupation and atrocities in occupied Palestine is the principal source of instability, tensions and conflict in the entire Middle East.

He said the two-State formula, involving the establishment of a sovereign, contiguous and viable Palestinian State, living side by side with Israel within recognized and accepted pre-1967 boundaries with Al Quds al Sharif as it capital offers the only solution to the conflict. Ambassador Munir Akram also condemned the continued killing of Palestinian civilians and demolition of their homes, and murder of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
