Islamabad, Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Iqbal Jadoon, has urged the UN General Assembly and Security Council to establish a special tribunal and accountability mechanism to investigate Israel’s atrocity crimes in Palestine.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the UN General Assembly Debate on the “Question of Palestine,” Ambassador Jadoon called for the deployment of an international protection force or mechanism to safeguard Palestinian civilians, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank. He emphasized the need for the UN’s role in restoring the peace process.
Ambassador Jadoon expressed regret over Israel’s continued indiscriminate and criminal attacks against the Palestinian people and its non-compliance with international humanitarian law, particularly regarding the protection of civilians.
He strongly condemned Israel’s use of force, blockading of essential supplies, and forced displacement within the occupied territory, labeling these actions as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and potentially genocide.
Ambassador Jadoon recognized the efforts of Qatar and Egypt in saving lives but stressed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and holding Israel accountable for its actions.
