Islamabad, Pakistan has formally requested Afghan authorities to take immediate and effective measures against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory. This appeal comes amid ongoing security concerns and incidents of cross-border terrorism affecting Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, during her weekly news briefing in Islamabad, highlighted the presence of terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan. She pointed out that these groups continue to launch attacks on Pakistan, resulting in significant loss of life. The spokesperson emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining peaceful and friendly relations with Afghanistan and expressed sympathy for the Afghan people facing humanitarian and security challenges. Pakistan has been actively advocating for continued international humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
Responding to inquiries, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch affirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to protecting workers and projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The spokesperson also expressed concern over the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging India to repeal its draconian laws and cease using the pretext of terrorism to suppress dissent in the region.
Further, the spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s call for a durable and sustained ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the need for substantial humanitarian aid, medical assistance, and shelter for those affected by Israeli bombing. She expressed grave concern over the escalating Israeli aggression in the West Bank and called for the international community to take decisive steps to end Israel’s campaign of terrorism against Palestinians.
