Pakistan Calls for UN Action on Palestine’s Full Membership

Islamabad, Pakistan has officially appealed to the UN Security Council to advance Palestine’s application for full membership in the United Nations, aligning with global consensus on the matter.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, voiced this appeal during a debate in the UN General Assembly concerning the use of veto in the admission of new members. Ambassador Akram argued that acknowledging Palestine’s membership could significantly energize peace efforts and address longstanding injustices faced by the Palestinian people.

During his speech, Akram also responded to recent developments involving Israel, cautioning against potential aggressive actions and their implications for regional stability. He urged the international community to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure humanitarian access, and hold Israel accountable for violations of international law, thereby supporting a two-state solution and fostering peace in the region.
