Islamabad, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the country’s commitment to multilateralism and diplomacy, emphasizing their importance as pillars of Pakistan’s foreign policy. The statement comes as the world marks the International Day for Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ishaq Dar highlighted the significance of multilateralism, diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation in addressing both existing and emerging international challenges. He underlined that these elements are crucial to ensuring an effective and credible approach to global issues.
The Foreign Minister also pointed out that the International Day for Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace serves as a reminder of the need to intensify multilateral efforts to resolve long-standing disputes and conflicts. He stressed the importance of allowing peoples living under foreign occupation, including those in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination through the implementation of relevant UN resolutions.
Dar stated that Pakistan has consistently supported the central role of the United Nations, seeing it as the most representative expression of multilateralism in international relations. Pakistan has been actively participating in all aspects of the UN’s work, advocating for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
He noted that the preservation and promotion of international peace and security, as well as global prosperity and human rights, require strict adherence to the principles of the UN Charter. This also involves cooperation among Member States within the framework of the Charter.
Pakistan’s call for self-determination in IIOJK and the Occupied Palestinian Territories resonates with its longstanding position on these issues. The Foreign Minister’s message underscores Pakistan’s dedication to multilateralism and diplomacy in pursuing international peace and justice.
