Pakistan Calls for Peaceful Resolution of Iran Nuclear Issue Amid Israeli Aggression

Istanbul: Pakistan has called for a peaceful resolution to the Iran nuclear issue through diplomatic engagement and dialogue, amid escalating tensions following Israeli strikes on Iranian civilian areas. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar emphasized Pakistan’s stance during a special session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul.

In his address, Mr. Dar expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran, extending condolences for the lives lost due to Israeli attacks. He criticized Israel for its actions, which coincided with ongoing verification activities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Iran. Mr. Dar accused Israel of violating international law and IAEA resolutions by targeting facilities under IAEA safeguards.

Highlighting perceived double standards, Mr. Dar lamented the absence of discourse on rule of law and accountability for Israel’s actions. He urged an end to the impunity enjoyed by Israel and described the attacks as a dangerous escalation threatening regional and global peace.

Reaffirming support for Iran, Mr. Dar invoked Article 51 of the UN Charter, endorsing Iran’s right to self-defense. He expressed hope that the OIC meeting would reinforce solidarity with Iran and send a message demanding accountability for Israel’s actions to prevent further jeopardizing regional peace.
