Pakistan calls for international community’s continued engagement in Afghanistan

Islamabad, September 01, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has called for the international community’s continued engagement to prevent the spoilers from disrupting prospects of peace and stability in Afghanistan. These views were expressed by spokesperson of Pakistan Mission to the United Nations, while commenting on the resolution regarding Afghanistan adopted by UN Security Council on Monday.

The spokesperson said international community needs to stay engaged with all relevant parties and respond to the current situation in a careful and a calibrated manner, taking into account the prevailing ground realities in Afghanistan. He said Pakistan is working closely with regional countries as well as members of international community for achieving lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The spokesperson stressed the need of a coordinated approach to address the threat posed by terrorist organizations like TTP, which has carried out hundreds of cross-border attacks against Pakistan with sponsorship of hostile intelligence agencies during the last year alone.
