Islamabad, September 13, 2021 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has reiterated its call for international community to rise from the geo-politics and put in efforts to help Afghanistan avert economic and humanitarian disaster and promote intra-Afghan reconciliation. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s insistence in an op-ed published in Khaleej Times on Monday.
Pakistan urged all responsible actors to learn from past mistakes and let us not repeat them. Foreign Minister said Afghanistan stands at a historic cross-roads, where it could finally end the cycles of conflict and instability, or descend into state failure which would bring untold misery to its people and affect the region.
He said after Afghanistan itself, Pakistan has suffered the most from the Afghan imbroglio. Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasized that Pakistan is committed to do what it can, but it would be essential to have a realistic perspective as the situation evolves. The Foreign Minister urged the “spoilers” to desist from stultifying the process of Afghan stabilisation as the war torn country needs healing not cynical manipulation.
He urged the spoilers to stop misleading the world by misusing cyber platforms and spreading baseless allegations to create wedge between people. Foreign Minister asked the new dispensation in Afghanistan to try to bring about genuine reconciliation and create a polity where no one felt imperilled due to ethnicity or gender. He said Pakistan desires a peaceful and prosperous region adding to international security and stability. Qureshi said this would also help in the realisation of our mutual connectivity agenda leading to regional economic integration.
