Pakistan Calls for Action to End Occupations in Kashmir and Palestine at the UN

Islamabad, Pakistan has made a strong appeal to the international community, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to terminate foreign occupations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine. This appeal aligns with the fundamental right to self-determination for the people in these regions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, delivered this message in context of Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination Day. He highlighted the ongoing suppression of self-determination rights, leading to conflicts, disputes, and egregious human rights violations, as evidenced in Kashmir and Palestine.

“The international community bears a direct and principal responsibility to end the foreign occupation and brutal suppression of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by India and Palestine by Israel,” Akram stated.

Despite India’s consistent refusal to comply with United Nations resolutions and acknowledge the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future, Akram noted that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir have bravely resisted Indian occupation. They continue their valiant struggle for self-determination and liberation.

Akram asserted that establishing lasting peace in South Asia is contingent upon the Kashmiri people exercising their right to self-determination, as outlined in the resolutions of the Security Council.

“Today, we reaffirm our commitment to provide unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support to the legitimate and just freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people,” Akram declared.

This appeal underlines Pakistan’s ongoing support for these regions and reinforces the call for global attention and action to resolve these protracted issues.
