Pakistan Braces for Torrential Monsoon Rains Across Multiple Regions

Islamabad: The National Weather Forecasting Centre has issued an alert for torrential monsoon rains expected across Pakistan from the 1st to the 6th of August, prompted by strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. The anticipated heavy rainfall is likely to affect various regions, including Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with potential severe impacts such as flash floods, urban flooding, and landslides in vulnerable areas.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the weather system will initially impact the upper parts of the country starting the night of July 31st and will gradually affect central and southern regions from August 2nd. The detailed forecast includes heavy to very heavy rainfall in cities like Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, and alerts for flash floods in hill torrents of D.G Khan, Kashmir, and potential urban flooding in low-lying areas of major cities.
