Pakistan Boosts Capital Market Efficiency with Digital Reforms

Karachi: Pakistan is taking significant steps to streamline its capital market by implementing digital reforms and adopting modern technology, aiming to create a more efficient and investor-friendly environment. The country’s stock market experienced a 48 percent growth, attracting over 190,000 new investors in the last financial year.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Stock Exchange have introduced several measures to simplify the account opening process. Among these is the launch of a digital verification system by the SECP, which allows identity verification through bank accounts. This system has expedited account opening, reduced paperwork, and enhanced the overall ease of doing business in the market.

In an effort to broaden investment opportunities, Minor Trading Accounts have been introduced, enabling parents to invest on behalf of children under 18. Further simplifying the investment process, a Digital Onboarding Mobile App is set to be launched, making investing simpler, faster, and more accessible to the general public.
