Islamabad: A reception was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commemorate Pakistan’s commencement as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term. The event was hosted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and attended by UN Security Council Member States’ mission heads in Islamabad, alongside senior Foreign Affairs officials.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Dar highlighted Pakistan’s legacy and dedication to the UN Charter’s principles, marking its eighth term on the Security Council. He emphasized Pakistan’s role in international peace and security through UN peacekeeping missions globally.
Senator Dar expressed Pakistan’s intentions to seek peaceful resolutions to issues within the Security Council’s agenda, oppose unilateral force, combat terrorism, and support UN peacekeeping efforts. He thanked UN Member States for their support in electing Pakistan and reiterated a commitment to work collaboratively with all Council members to uphold the UN Charter’s purposes.
