Islamabad: Pakistan reiterated its support for Palestine at a high-level conference in New York, denouncing Israeli actions in Gaza and advocating for a Palestinian state. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan at the conference co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, focused on a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian question.
Several nations, including France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Portugal, declared their recognition of the State of Palestine at the gathering, strengthening the global agreement on Palestinian self-determination.
Dar welcomed these recognitions and encouraged other countries to follow suit, highlighting Pakistan’s early recognition of Palestine in 1988. He endorsed the conference’s *New York Declaration* and urged tangible global steps to end the conflict and promote Middle East stability.
The Pakistani representative condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, demanding an immediate, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire across Gaza and all occupied Palestinian territories. He also demanded full humanitarian access to the affected populace. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for an independent, viable Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, aligning with UN and OIC resolutions.
