Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has declared Pakistan’s full support for Iran’s proposal to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers. This announcement follows the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, an event that has sparked significant reactions from both nations.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Senator Dar expressed this commitment during a phone conversation with Acting Foreign Minister of Iran, Ali Bagehri Kani. The discussion highlighted the shared concerns over recent violent incidents, including the assassination that occurred during the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s President.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, strongly condemns the assassination and the ongoing violence in Gaza. The National Assembly of Pakistan has also passed a unanimous resolution denouncing these acts, which they describe as violations of international law and diplomatic norms.
The planned OIC meeting aims to address these critical issues and foster a unified response among member states. Pakistan’s active participation underscores its commitment to solidarity and cooperation within the Islamic community on matters of significant geopolitical impact.
