Canberra, May 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):On Wednesday 18 May Pakistan Association of Australia (PAA) and Hon Shaoquett Moselamne, MLC organized an Eid Milan Party at the NSW Parliament House. The program started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Imam Tanavi followed by Australian national anthem by Ms. Mehreen Javed.
President of the Association, Mr. Farhat Jafri welcomed the guest and greeted the audience. He also highlighted the current political chaos back in Pakistan and requested Pakistani diaspora to refrain from using abusive languages on social media when expressing political views. He also requested larger Pakistani community in Australia to respect Pakistani establishment and institutions while criticizing political parties.
The host of the event, Hon Shaoquett Moselamne who recently visited Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal as part of his charity Wheelchairs for World shared his experience in Pakistan. He also highlighted his charity works in Pakistan and encouraged young people to participate in political process of Australia. Granville MP Hon Julia Finn also addressed the audience and greeted the Pakistani Australian community.
Chief Guest of the evening His Excellency Mr. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri greeted the Pakistani community and expressed his gratitude NSW Parliamentarians making this event a success. PAA acknowledged and awarded young Hafiz-e-Quran (who memorizes entire Quran). Awards were given to Dr Yasmin Khan, Dr Ayla Khan (Shaukat Khanum Foundation), His Excellency Mr Mohammed Ashraf Pakistan Consulate General and Mr Sheryar Khan Deputy Consul were also present Ms. Mehreen Javed. Media personalities, such as Zafar Hussain Shah (Sada-e-watan) Raja Taseer (Hum Watan) and Syed Abbas Naqvi (5 News) and other community leader were present.
Pakistan Association Australia is a volunteer, non-profit, social welfare and cultural organization of the expatriate Pakistanis, serving the community. PAA is oldest association of Pakistani diaspora in Australia. General Secretary of the association Mr Hamid Saroha was the MC for the evening; he highlighted and thanked the sponsors who arranged the awards and contribution of the Pakistani community towards larger community. He concluded speech by thanking all participants.
