Pakistan Asserts Commitment to Counter Indian-backed Proxies Amidst Tensions

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to combat Indian-backed proxies accused of perpetrating terrorism within the country. Addressing the National Assembly, he condemned a recent attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, and assured that investigations are underway to bring those responsible to justice.

Tarar highlighted that the attack followed a reported defeat of adversaries by Pakistan’s military forces in traditional warfare. He asserted that Indian military assets, including airbases and Rafale jets, were targeted, dismissing threats from proxies like Fitnat-ul-Khwarij as minor compared to Pakistan’s strength and determination.

Minister for Board of Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh praised the armed forces for their response to Indian actions, claiming that while India portrays itself as a terrorism victim, it sponsors terrorism in Pakistan.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary echoed these sentiments, stating India has resorted to backing attacks like the one in Khuzdar due to its failures in direct confrontations. He emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces are committed to eradicating terrorism.

Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi noted that Pakistan’s standing on the global stage has improved following its military’s successes, with international recognition of the country’s capability to defend its sovereignty.

Other assembly members also condemned the Khuzdar attack, attributing it to India’s alleged destabilizing actions in the region and urging the international community to take notice.

In the session, Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui discussed ongoing negotiations for securing scholarships for Pakistani students abroad and efforts to enhance the nation’s educational sector through international collaborations.

Parliamentary Secretary for Commerce Zulfiqar Ali Khan announced plans for a new textile policy aimed at boosting exports, while Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Saad Waseem Sheikh highlighted efforts to expand the tax base.

The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 11 a.m.
