Rawalpindi, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), chaired the 83rd Formation Commanders Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ), attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army. The high-level military meeting focused on the current geo-strategic climate, national security challenges, and the army’s preparedness to counter various threats.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, the conference began with a moment of Fatiha and tributes to the Shuhadas from the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians who have sacrificed their lives for the country’s safety, security, and sovereignty. The forum was comprehensively briefed on the dynamics of the geo-strategic environment, emerging challenges to national security, and the army’s strategies to address multi-domain threats.

The discussions also covered the necessity of technological innovations to modernize the army and enhance logistic support to field formations, ensuring the military remains adept in a fast-evolving operational environment. The forum expressed serious concerns about continued cross-border violations from Afghanistan and terrorism facilitated from Afghan soil, aimed at targeting Pakistani security forces and civilians.

Further deliberations included the socio-economic development in Balochistan, emphasizing the need to counter foreign-sponsored narratives that aim to mislead the youth of the region. The commanders reviewed the situation on the Eastern Border and the ongoing issues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), reiterating their solidarity with the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination as recognized by UN Security Council resolutions.

The conference also addressed the impact of politically motivated digital terrorism aimed at sowing discord among Pakistan’s national institutions and people.
