Taxila, In a significant advancement in its military capabilities, Pakistan has unveiled the HAIDER tank, a new state-of-the-art armored vehicle, during a roll-out ceremony at Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT). The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, graced the event as the chief guest, marking a milestone in Pakistan’s defense production through indigenous efforts and international collaboration.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, the ceremony saw the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, key officials from the Chinese state company NORINCO, high-ranking officials from the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army, alongside various military and civilian officials from HIT. The HAIDER tank represents a leap in tank warfare technology, incorporating advanced features that enhance its firepower, protection, and maneuverability. This initiative underscores the Pakistani defense industry’s commitment to achieving self-reliance and excellence in military innovation, developed in partnership with NORINCO and various local industries.
General Munir received detailed briefings on the HAIDER tank’s technical capabilities and the broader efforts toward indigenization in arms and armament production. His tour of other manufacturing facilities within the Heavy Industrial Complex highlighted his appreciation for the dedication and achievements of the officers and workforce in reaching this technological milestone.
